Home Services Face Procedures Rhinoplasty Denver, CO

Elective rhinoplasty, also known as a “nose job” or nose reconstruction surgery, is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures in the industry, with thousands performed each year. Rhinoplasty is a specialized surgery that is best performed by an experienced board-certified surgeon such as Dr. Jennifer Emmett of Emmett Plastic Surgery. Dr. Emmett, certified by the American Board of Surgery, and her team of medical experts are among the top providers of plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures serving the Denver, Lone Tree, and Douglas County communities.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, or nose reconstruction surgery, is often referred to as a “nose job” and is actually a surgical procedure that re-sculpts the size and shape of the nose. Rhinoplasty is also occasionally performed to correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose or nostrils. Rhinoplasty corrects the size or proportions of the nose, repairs tissue damaged by injury, and creates a natural appearance that is proportional and in balance with the patient’s other facial features.

Rhinoplasty surgery is performed to correct many problems, such as a nose that is off-center, has a bulbous or misshapen tip, has a bump or “ski slope” on the bridge, is either too broad or too thin, or virtually any other aspect of your nose that makes you unhappy. Rhinoplasty surgery corrects:

  • The size of the nose in relation to other facial features.
  • The width and protrusion of the nose at the bridge.
  • Your profile by removing visible humps or depressions on the bridge.
  • The tip of the nose, whether it is round or bulbous, drooping, or upturned.
  • Nostrils that appear too large, wide, flared, or upturned.
  • A nose that is not symmetrical, evenly proportional or properly centered.

Rhinoplasty may also repair damaged tissue caused by a previous injury, and it may also clear up breathing problems caused by such structural defects as a deviated septum.

Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

Any adult or teenager who is in overall good health may be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. In the case of teens, Dr. Emmett and her team will need to examine you to make sure that the bones of your face are fully developed before performing the surgery.

How Is a Nose Job Performed?

Cosmetic rhinoplasty requires a different approach for each patient in order to provide the most personalized and individual results. Dr. Emmett and her team will work closely with you to determine the best treatment combinations to address your concerns and problem areas, in order to achieve the results you desire. Rhinoplasty is typically performed as an outpatient procedure, and it may take between one and two hours to complete. Once the procedure is completed, you may have to wear a splint for a few days to help your nose keep its new shape.
