Acne Treatment in Denver

Acne is the most common skin condition in the United States and is often associated with puberty and our teenage years. However, acne can also affect adults, forcing them to seek professional treatment. Located in Lone Tree, Emmett Plastic Surgery, led by Dr. Jennifer Emmett, board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, has helped Denver and Centennial area residents reduce and control acne, giving them clear, healthy skin.

What is Acne?

Acne is a skin disease that affects the oil glands. When a pore, also known as a hair follicle, becomes blocked by oil, dirt or bacteria, acne develops. Acne outbreaks usually happen on the face, back, and upper arms. Acne most commonly develops in teens around puberty but can occur in adults as well. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how diligent you are with your skin care regimen, acne still persists. There is no definitive cause for acne, but the condition has been linked to hormones and other factors.

How Do You Treat Acne?

There are several ways to professionally treat acne. During your consultation, Dr. Emmett will assess your skin and determine what method of treatment is best for you. This may include ointments, injections, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, oral medication or facials.

Dr. Emmett recommends chemical peels for treating acne breakouts in teenagers. The chemical peels help exfoliate the skin by removing the outermost layer of skin that is plagued with dead skin cells and irritants. Emmett Plastic Surgery offers SkinMedica® chemical peels including:

How Do You Treat Acne Scars?

Acne scar removal is popular amongst patients who suffered from acne as a teenager. Dr. Emmett recommends laser skin resurfacing for acne scar removal. Laser skin resurfacing, also referred to as fractional CO2 laser resurfacing, uses a carbon dioxide laser to remove the outer layers of damaged skin with very short, pulsed light energy. With fractional CO2 laser resurfacing, only the affected skin is treated, leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. This allows for better results and a quicker recovery.

Other acne scar removal treatments may include microdermabrasion, chemical peels and facials.

Is Acne Treatment Right For Me?

If you’re constantly trying to hide your face, or you refuse to wear sleeveless shirts because of acne breakouts, then acne treatment is right for you. Professional acne treatment can clean up your skin and give you the confidence to show your face and your skin.

If you have dark spots or indentations left from years of acne breakouts, professional acne scar removal is what you need. Dr. Emmett will work with you and help you find the best treatment to erase those lingering reminders of the acne that once plagued you.

How Much Does Acne Treatment Cost?

Acne treatment and acne scar removal costs vary depending on the type of technique used. Acne treatment is considered to be elective, so most insurance providers won’t cover the costs. To help make acne treatment affordable and accessible Dr. Emmett offers financing through CareCredit®, Key Bank, and Prosper® Healthcare Lending. We also accept cash, personal checks, and credit cards.
