Home General What Is Capsular Contracture?

March 19, 2018

There are a number of complications that can occur as a result of breast augmentation surgery. One of these complications is capsular contracture, a condition that can cause noticeable discomfort and detract from the aesthetic quality of your results.

After a breast implant has been placed in the breast, scar tissue naturally forms in a capsule around the implant. When the scar tissue forms with an abnormal degree of thickness, there is less space around the implant, causing pressure on it. This can cause the area to become painful and stiff, and the force placed on the implant can cause it to become misshapen, which can deform the appearance of the breast.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Emmett can correct capsular contracture by performing breast revision surgery. She will discuss the full details of your previous breast surgery so that she can formulate a surgical plan to correct the issue and restore the beautiful appearance of your breasts. If you are suffering from capsular contracture, contact our office to schedule a consultation.
