Voluma® XC is the only FDA-approved dermal filler designed to treat age-related volume loss in the cheeks and mid-face. This filler uses hyaluronic acid to restore volume and lift skin, giving you a more youthful appearance in a safe and comfortable manner. Emmett Plastic Surgery, led by Dr. Jennifer Emmett, board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, has helped Denver, Lone Tree, and Douglas County residents reshape the contour of their faces with Voluma® XC.

What is Voluma® XC?

Voluma® XC is the first and only FDA-approved injectable filler for use in the cheeks and cheekbone areas. It is made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the body that binds with water and helps stimulate hydration, which in turn halts the development of wrinkles. Voluma® XC is designed to lift and firm sagging skin in the cheek area.

Benefits of Voluma® XC

Voluma® XC is unlike any other dermal filler. The product not only reduces wrinkles but also reshapes the contours of your face. Voluma® XC adds volume at each injection site, including all three areas of the cheeks: the apex, apple, and the hollow. The treatment lifts and firms the skin, reducing the need to fill in wrinkles and lines. Voluma® XC’s results last for almost two years, saving patients money by reducing the number of treatments they must undergo to obtain the desired look.

How is Voluma® XC Different From Other Dermal Fillers?

The chains of hyaluronic acid that make up Voluma® XC are cross-linked using a specialized technique called Vycross™. This helps the HA chains maintain their structure much longer than in other hyaluronic acid fillers. Voluma® XC is a thicker formulation when compared to other dermal fillers. Because of its Vycross™ technique, Voluma® XC is injected deeper into the skin near the cheekbone. Voluma® XC is not intended to fill in lines and wrinkles like most dermal fillers. It adds volume to the cheek area and plumps up skin in the mid-face section, smoothing out wrinkles and lines from the added volume.

Is Voluma® XC Right for Me?

If you are at least 21 years of age and want to restore volume to your cheeks and jawline, Voluma® XC may be right for you. If you have sagging skin and want a lift that will retain its firm contour for up to two years, contact Emmett Plastic Surgery to find out more about how Voluma® XC can help you.

What Happens During a Voluma® XC Treatment?

Voluma® XC is administered differently than other dermal fillers. Voluma® XC comes pre-mixed with lidocaine to help numb the area being treated. Instead of just using a needle, Dr. Emmett will inject Voluma® XC directly into your skin using a micro-cannula. A micro-cannula is a long, flexible device that resembles a needle. It has a blunt tip with a hole on the side that contains the filler. A cannula is not able to penetrate the skin on its own. To place the cannula, Dr. Emmett will insert and then remove needles from the skin. This method requires fewer injections, thus reducing the amount of pain and side effects, such as bruising and swelling. Voluma® XC procedures take roughly 20 minutes, depending on the extent of treatment and the amount of Voluma® XC used.

What Can I Expect Following a Voluma® XC Injection?

Voluma® XC treatments are minimally invasive, so you return to work and regular activities immediately after your injection. Because Voluma® XC uses micro-cannulas, bruising and swelling is less likely to occur. However, if you do experience any bruising and swelling, you can use over-the-counter medication and a cold compress to manage the discomfort.

How Much Does Voluma® XC Cost?

Voluma® XC is generally considered an elective cosmetic treatment so many insurances will not cover the cost. Dr. Emmett offers financing through CareCredit®, Simmons Bank, and Prosper® Healthcare Lending. We also accept cash, personal checks, and credit cards.
