Loss of facial volume leads to sagging skin, which makes you look older. Sculptra® can restore your skin’s thickness and natural plumpness without having to go under the knife. Located in Lone Tree, Emmett Plastic Surgery, led by Dr. Jennifer Emmett, board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, has helped Denver and Centennial area residents regain their natural beauty and youthfulness with Sculptra®.
What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is a facial filler treatment that restores the structure of skin tissue by stimulating the body’s own production of collagen. Sculptra® is made of poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible and biodegradable substance that is used in dissolving stitches and soft tissue implants. Because the body is able to naturally break down poly-L-lactic acid, it makes Sculptra® a safe and effective way to thicken skin and improve skin texture and quality, with few side effects.
Benefits of Sculptra®
Sculptra® is unlike other fillers on the market, making it a beneficial choice for many men and women. Some of the unique benefits include:
- Better suited for significant volume loss and moderate to severe wrinkles
- Works by thickening the skin, rather than filling in lines and wrinkles
- Provides results that outlast other dermal fillers
- Results gradually improve for up to two years or longer
- Produces a natural, authentic look, while improving skin texture and quality
Is Sculptra® Right for Me?
If you have significant volume loss or severe signs of wrinkles, particularly around the mouth and nose, Sculptra® may be the best dermal filler for you. Sculptra® results develop gradually over time and can last for over two years, so if you are looking for long-lasting, natural looking improvements, Sculptra® could be your best option.
What Happens During a Sculptra® Treatment?
Prior to treatment, you should stop the use of any blood-thinning medication, including aspirin, to prevent excess bleeding or complications.
Sculptra® does not contain a numbing agent like some fillers, so Dr. Emmett will begin by applying a topical anesthetic to reduce potential discomfort. Following the anesthetic, Dr. Emmett will inject Sculptra® under the skin and gently massage your face for even distribution. When possible, Dr. Emmett uses an intraoral injection technique where she goes through the mouth to reach targeted areas. The injection only takes a few minutes to administer, however, you might need more than one treatment to achieve the look you want.
What Can I Expect Following a Sculptra® Injection?
Sculptra®, unlike other dermal fillers, does not produce immediate results. After injection, you may experience minor swelling and bruising that should subside in a few days. Over-the-counter medication and the use of a cold compress can reduce discomfort. Gradually you will notice a difference in your appearance. Your face has restored volume and looks refreshed.
How Much Does Sculptra® Cost?
Costs will vary from patient to patient, depending on the volume of product necessary to treat target areas. Sculptra® is generally considered an elective cosmetic treatment so many insurances will not cover the cost. Dr. Emmett offers financing through CareCredit®, Bank SNB, and Prosper® Healthcare Lending. We also accept cash, personal checks, and credit cards.
