Neck Lift in Denver

All too often, the skin of the neck shows advanced signs of aging even though the face remains youthful. Genetics and weight fluctuations may also play a role in the firmness of the skin around your neck. Loose skin, bands, and “turkey neck” may be corrected with neck lift surgery to restore a firmer and more youthful appearance to the neck area. Dr. Jennifer Emmett, board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, and her team of medical specialists perform neck lift surgeries for residents of Centennial and the Greater Denver area at Emmett Plastic Surgery in Lone Tree.

What Is A Neck Lift?

A neck lift is a plastic surgery procedure that restores a youthful appearance to the neck and jaw line. The neck lift may alter the neck and throat area, eliminate the vertical bands in the neck that produce the hideous “turkey neck” effect, lift the area of sagging skin and fatty pockets beneath the chin, and eliminate the appearance of jowls in the chin area.

Benefits Of A Neck Lift

Many of us become painfully aware that the most visible signs of aging are not limited to the face but appear in the neck and throat area, causing the dreaded “turkey neck” effect which, along with sagging skin beneath the chin, may mar an otherwise youthful appearance. In many patients, a neck lift provides the most dramatic rejuvenation, as well as eliminating:

  • Sagging skin around the jaw line and the appearance of jowls.
  • Sagging skin and pockets of fatty tissue deposits beneath the chin.
  • Vertical bands that create the “turkey neck” effect in the throat area.
  • Loose, sagging skin and wrinkles around the neck and throat.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Neck Lift?

If you are unhappy with sagging skin in your neck area or if you are beginning to notice the “turkey neck” effect, a neck lift may be the perfect solution for you. Candidates for a neck lift are people in generally good health who have noticed sagging pockets of excess fat, loose skin, and sagging bands of skin across the neck.

How Is the Neck Lift Performed?

A neck lift procedure usually takes between one and three hours to perform, and typically requires an incision under the chin. Each neck lift is performed precisely according to each patient’s goals. Dr. Emmett and her team of specialists can tighten neck muscles to remove the unsightly “turkey neck” effect and other unattractive bands of sagging skin. Liposuction may be used to remove small fatty tissue deposits. Excess skin is removed, and the muscles under the chin may also be tightened for a more streamlined profile and silhouette.

How Long Is The Recovery After A Neck Lift?

Most patients require one to two weeks to recover following a neck lift. Immediately after the procedure, the neck is wrapped in a compression bandage. Some patients may experience tenderness, swelling, and soreness, as well as skin numbness and tightness. For the first 10 days, we recommend you keep your neck and head elevated and dress in a button-down shirt to avoid irritating the area.

How Much Does A Neck Lift Cost in Denver?

The cost of a neck lift surgery varies significantly from patient to patient, based on the specific concerns being addressed, the extent of surgical work and the techniques that Dr. Emmett uses for the surgery. A neck lift is often combined with other facial procedures such as a facelift, further influencing the total cost of the procedure. Many health insurance carriers will not cover the costs of elective cosmetic procedures such as a neck lift, however, our office provides easy financing methods via CareCredit®, Key Bank, and Prosper® Healthcare Lending. We also accept cash, checks, and credit cards as forms of payment.
